Elements of Greatness

We have been created with an element of greatness within us, a sense that we can be something more than what we see at the moment. Along this winding path of life, we make mistakes, fail terribly, pack a bag of regret and let our heavy hearts discourage us. We hold back, dream a little safer. We lose sight of who we hoped to be in the fog of who we’ve become. It’s our fault and we finally admit it. So where do we go from here?
For those of us looking to live, we have one path to choose.
Accept that we have done wrong. Accept that it’s our fault for our situation. Take our power back by being responsible for our part. Then...
Apologize for offenses.
Right the wrongs as best we can.
Bring healing to those we’ve hurt.
Stop doing those things that make us a lesser person. Turn our faces from the old and walk toward the new.
Purposely bring out the good in ourselves by bringing out the good in those around us.
Move our thinking away from being a victim/poor me/someone else’s fault, and move it into a deep understanding that life isn’t fair but it won’t stop us from bringing good anyway.
Measurable goals is what we need for 2019.
Goal 1: Bring solutions to the problems.
Goal 2: Talk about ideas and plans instead of people and their business.
Goal 3: Listen as much as we speak.
Goal 4: Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. We aren’t afraid to learn anymore.
Yes, the old us carries the baggage and says “you can’t be anything but what you are right now” but the new us throws it off of our shoulders by saying “watch me walk in something better.”
Let 2019 be the year that we leave regret behind and purpose ourselves to something higher. Challenges will develop fruit everlasting.
It will be worth it.
Happy New Year.
Happy New You.

(Photo of Kobb, taken by Keith Kimble. Kobb was hit by a car last night and died a couple of hours later. 😢 He was a happy dog and his death has inspired this message. He got me thinking about how to live just a little bit better, a little bit happier this morning. RIP my sweet friend. I’ll miss you.)
